»Beste Freunde PLUS« is the modernized edition of the successful German textbook for teenagers »Beste Freunde«. The aim of the relaunch was to create a contemporary and digitally linked version of the proven concept – with new features in the interactive version. As only the course books and workbooks were redesigned, it was particularly important to maintain the recognizability of the successful series. This was particularly important as the integration into the existing extensive product range with precise allocation and navigation had to be possible without any problems. The tried-and-tested protagonist principle was given a contemporary makeover. The typography as well as the color and form concept were only minimally modified. A modern look with a high proportion of white was created, which clearly sets it apart from the previous textbooks. When revising the covers, we chose a profile picture look in combination with overlapping circular shapes for the presentation of the protagonists. An abstract representation of digital networking, which in turn appeals to young people in the world they live in today. The new covers leave previous textbook design conventions behind and illustrate the transition to a new interactive and digital generation of textbooks at Hueber Verlag.
