Museum Folkwang
Founded in 1902 by Karl Ernst Osthaus, the Museum Folkwang treats its visitors to an exquisite collection of paintings, graphic art and sculptures of international standing. As a design agency, we were commissioned by the museum with the editorial design, proofreading and production of a high-quality illustrated book on the major masterpieces in the collection as well as a smaller museum guide. The large volume on the masterpieces in the collection is »a book conceived by Tobia Bezzola and Mario von Lüttichau with a wonderfully airy design. While other publications of this kind often overwhelm the reader because they strive for the impression of completeness, this successful volume focuses on the exemplary.« (Informationsdienst KUNST) The handy and very informative, smaller museum guide invites you to take an exciting walk through the museum: it leads you through the collections of the 19th to 21st centuries, past works by Cézanne and Beckmann to contemporary installations and sculptures. The chronological arrangement juxtaposes art forms created at the same time – and opens up new perspectives. Both publications complement each other and are published by our in-house Sieveking Verlag in German and English.
