Anniversary volume »ZI 75«
Central Institute for Art History
The Central Institute for Art History (ZI) is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The comprehensive anniversary publication deals with the history of the renowned research institute. The typographic cover presents the institute’s new logo. The high-quality design with half-linen and embossing sets color accents in the special color »valuable ultramarine blue«. The color, historically considered precious, underlines the high standards of the institution. Another key design feature is the emphasis on the vertical, derived from the verticality of the letters Z and I. This is already evident in the selection of a narrow book format and is continued by a well-thought-out choice of font: an elegantly high headline font with a historical character for the beginning of each scientific contribution. For the continuous text, we focus on a particularly high level of reading comfort due to the large amount of text, including extensive endnotes. The collection of articles is broken up by short contributions – so-called »forays«. They shed light on selected objects from the Institute’s archive. This »spotlight« is visualized by a striking yellow color area at the beginning and a yellow border. The choice of typography, reminiscent of old typewriters, also makes consistent reference to old archive documents. The result is a well-thought-out publication that underlines the value and claim of this important scientific institution. The publication is published by Sieveking Verlag.
