For Hueber Verlag, we developed the visual concept of the product brand as well as the sample layout for the intermedia textbook »Vielfalt«, a German textbook for advanced learners from language level B1+. On screen, in a virtual or real classroom or alternately – this diverse series of textbooks combines a book, interactive version and app. In addition to the variety of media, the theme of diversity is also the main narrative concept of this textbook series and is therefore consistently transferred into the design. Striking black and white patterns are reminiscent of ethnological textiles and illustrate the diversity of the protagonists. The culturally specific ornaments are based on a diamond shape. This is taken up as a central design element in the cover and in the layout design. The simple, modern typography impresses with the quality of the individual shapes and the volume text. It is easy to grasp and eye-catching and functions as a concise word mark as well as a basic font, giving the product range a stringent typeface. In addition to the black and white elements, high-contrast colors ensure clear navigation: alternating module colors, three lesson colors and heading colors are clearly distinguishable from each other and yet designed to match.
