BRAND DESIGN & COMMUNICATION
Archive Peiffer Watenphul
Max Peiffer Watenphul (1896–1976), a Bauhaus student in his early years, is a recognized German artist who created an extensive collection. As a painter, he is appreciated as a subtle interpreter of southern landscapes, giving unmistakable expression to the longing for Italy in the north. His drawings and photographs are in no way inferior to his paintings in terms of artistic quality and shed light on further facets of the collection of this remarkably unconventional artist of the last century. In close cooperation with the artist’s family, we conceived and designed a visual identity for this multifaceted painter. The logo and design system stand in reduced contrast to the artistic oeuvre in order to emphasize it through differentiation. Color was also deliberately avoided in the brand design in order to focus on the color harmony of the works. The artistic work is the stage for the visual identity and the reduced brand design gives the appearance a concise visual bracket. In addition to the brand design, we were also tasked with designing the web and social media presence. We placed particular emphasis on the excellent reproduction of the images.
